Poem: The Demons Inside Me

The demons inside me won’t leave me alone,
They squeeze me hard and leave me to moan.
The excruciating pain has reached its height,
I don’t know what to do; I don’t know how to fight.

Today is the day when my hopes have gone,
I see no light, I see no dawn.
I’m struggling hard to break free,
Dear God, can you hear my plea?

I’m in anguish; I’m in pain,
I’m exhausted;I’m going to drain!
There’s only so much I can bear,
Sometimes life is really unfair!

I feel left-out and I feel troubled,
I’m broken; I’m crumbled!
All my life I have searched for peace,
Weary and spent, now I want to sleep!
